Wichita State track and field student-athlete Deja Young earned a spot on the 2015 U.S. Paralympic Team and won the 100 meter dash at the 2015 United States Paralympics Saturday evening in a time of 12.26. | 100 m Results | 200m Results
Her time, in addition to running a 25.08 Friday in the 200 meters, qualify her for the World Championships in October in Doha, Qatar, as a member of the U.S. Paralympic Team. Young was born with a deformity in her right shoulder.
Young, who just wrapped up her freshman season at WSU, earned second-team All-American honors as a member of women’s Wichita State’s 4×100 meter relay team that finished 16th place at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship June 11.
They ran 44.89 to earn the second-team honors. The Mesquite, Texas, product also holds the school record in the 4×100
