The Barton Community College women’s basketball jumped on Colby Community College from the opening tip Wednesday night at the Barton Gym cruising to an 83-40 victory. The Lady Cougars upped their Jayhawk mark to 3-6 and 11-9 on the season while Colby remains winless in the conference dropping to 0-10 and 4-17 on the season. Barton will wrap up its two-game home stand on Saturday in a 1:30 p.m. matinee against Seward County Community College.
The Lady Cougars used an early 17-2 run to open the first quarter holding the Trojans to one field goal racing out to a 17-4 lead. Barton then put together an 11-0 run early in the following ten minutes building a commanding 39-14 halftime score limiting the Trojans to a mere 16% shooting from the field.
Scoring twenty-seven points in the third quarter, the Lady Cougars left little hope for a Colby comeback as treys from Alexus Bryson, Kilee Harris, and Regan Unruh helped expand the lead by nineteen for a 66-22 advantage.
