The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference released their yearly Coaches Poll this week and the McPherson College women’s soccer team was picked to finish ninth in the 11-team league.

“This is right where we expected to be based on last season’s results,” said MC Head Coach Doug Quint.  “It’s up to us now to work hard, prove people wrong and earn some respect.”

The Lady ‘Dogs are coming off a 5-12-1 season where they went 3-6 in the KCAC, finishing seventh and missing the postseason tournament for the first time since 2005.

A young team a year ago, Mac brings back nearly every player, 15 in total, becoming a very experienced unit.  Highlighting the list of returners is defender Heather Diamond, midfielders Allie Hicks and Rhea Vale, and forward Cydney Lewis.  Vale and Lewis each scored nine goals for McPherson last season with Lewis winning the point total battle with her 22 total.

MC added just five players this offseason, four junior transfers and a freshman.  Sheryl Evans, a junior transfer from Nassau, Bahamas comes to camp penciled in as the starting goal keeper for MC; she was the starting keeper for the Bahamas U-17 National Team.

A scrimmage against the Bulldog alumni on August 15th is the opening contest for the 2015 squad.  Regular season game one is set for September 5th against RV University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma; start time is set for 12:30 p.m. (CT)  Conference play kicks off on October 3rd when Mac plays host to RV Kansas Wesleyan University at 12:30 p.m.
