It was all McPherson on Saturday between the Bulldogs and Sterling College as Mac took a 2-0 KCAC victory. MC is now 5-6 on the year and 2-1 in the conference.
“This was an important three points for us on the road,” said Coach Quint. “We had a very clean and consistent performance from everyone today. It was so pleasing to see. We played mistake free defensively and didn’t give away scoring chances. I was really pleased with how we played defensively today. Our entire back-line had a solid performance today. Offensively we created a lot of quality chances in possession but just weren’t very clinical in front of goal today.”
The Bulldogs attacked the Sterling goal early and often on Saturday as they took six shots in the first 15 minutes. Brayam De La Cruz used that sixth shot to put the ‘Dogs on the scoreboard with his first goal of the year. MC continued to take shots and ended the half with 10 total and a 1-0 lead.
Defense was the name of the game in the second half for McPherson as they thwarted every opportunity the Warriors had. SC only took one shot in the final 45 minutes. Jesus Pescador scored in the 54th minute to clinch the game for the Bulldogs. Another seven shot attempts were taken by Mac in the final period.
Pescador took five of the team’s 17 shots, putting two between the posts. He was followed by Nick Torres who attempted four and also assisted on Pescador’s goal. Both Christopher Kelly and Omar Perez took two strikes at goal.
Aaron Parrott played the first 45 in the box for McPherson, logging two saves and the win. Arthur Lamparter took the goalie duties for the second half.
The Bulldogs’ next match comes on October 14th when Mac heads to Friends University in Wichita, Kansas for an 8:30 p.m. (CT) contest.
