The Barton Community College women’s soccer team experienced an unexpected loss Saturday in Dodge City suffering a 2-1 defeat to Dodge City Community College.  Despite controlling play and opportunities throughout the night, Barton’s inability to finish and Dodge City capitalizing on its chances secured the Lady Conquistadors’ first win over the Lady Cougars since the 2007 Region VI playoffs.  The loss drops Barton to 2-2 in conference play with its second straight defeat and 2-4 overall while Dodge City wins its third straight improving to 3-1 and 5-3.  Next for the Lady Cougars is a Wednesday 3:00 p.m. kick at the Cougar Soccer Complex against No. 9 ranked Butler Community College.

A Barton turnover deep in the defensive zone proved costly for the game’s first goal as Kristina Trinceri send a beautiful cross to the back post as Cynthia Rodela broke the tie just under ten minutes into second half action.

Unable to finish off multiple opportunities throughout the evening and outshooting the Lady Conquistadors 15-7, Jennifer Mendez finally was able to break through for the Lady Cougars tying the contest ten minutes later finishing off Maria Rodriguez‘s first assist of the season.  However, less the two minutes later Trinceri answered scoring unassisted for the Dodge City game winner.
