The state of Tennessee and the Memphis area has been a stock of talent for the Barton Community College women’s basketball program in recent years. Earlier this week the Lady Cougars announced the signing of Jalisa Jones becoming the fifth player from Tennessee compiling the 2015-16 roster.
The third Top 25 Memphis area prospect signed by the Lady Cougars for the upcoming season, the 5’10” guard helped lead Overton High School to a deep playoff run finishing the season at 27-4.
“Jalisa brings a very strong work ethic and desire to win,” said Barton Assistant Coach Alan Clark. “She is a soft spoken but competitive young lady who is a winner.”
Each hailing from a Memphis high school, Jones will join returning sophomore Tyanna Warren from Memphis Academy of Science & Engineering, and incoming freshman Oreona Brown and Alexus Bryson, each from Ridgeway High School, and Manassas High School’s Shyanne Stevenson.
“I first saw her playing against guys in a workout and knew we needed to get her to Barton,” Clark said. “With her lateral quickness and length she always defended the opponent’s best player whether that was a point guard, shooting guard or forward.”
