Gulf Shores, Ala. – The 2015 NAIA National Outdoor Track & Field Championships came to a close on Saturday night. McPherson College sent two athletes to the meet and came away with one NAIA All-American in Art Hop.
“I was pleased to see both Rea and AJ perform well on a national state,” said head coach Cameron Magnall. “It’s a great way to springboard into a promising 2015-16 season.”
Hop was one of nine athletes to clear 4.70m (15′ 5″) but was unable to make it over the next height; his first attempt clearances over the previous two heights put him seventh out of 16 athletes. Hop is just one of several All-Americans in the recent history of McPherson track & field.
Rea Samuels outdid her 22nd pre-meet ranking by finishing 15th with her time of 12.25. The junior ran her second fastest time of the year and was just 19 hundredths out of qualifying for the finals.
Mac T&F returns several of their top-tier athletes as they look for a productive 2016
