Seven members of the Barton Community College men’s track and field team competed this past Wednesday with five personal best performances at the Emporia State University Midweek Open in Emporia, Kansas.
Romario Antoine led the Cougars with a Discus Throw of 48.5m ranking fourth in Region VI competition and ninth overall in the nation. Also in the throws Tyler Jordan‘s 36.46m Hammer Throw placed him 13th overall.
Marquee Montgomery led the sprints with 200m victory in a personal best 21.99 following a fourth place 100m earlier in the day crossing the tape in 11.03.
Four Cougars competed in the middle and long distance events. Brady Holler began the day with a fourth place finish with a personal best time of 10:47.26 in the 3000m Steeplechase which is tenth best in Region VI. Two Barton athletes competed in the 1500m with Devyn Brotherton‘s 4:04.75 good for seventh place while Marcus Pastran‘s personal best of 4:25.08 finished 29th overall. Anthony Forrest rounded out the day with an 800m podium finish in third place with a career best 1:56.96.
The Cougars, who won the Region VI Indoor Championships, will next be competing in the Region VI Outdoor Championships May 1-2 in El Dorado, Kansas.
