For the first time since the 2011 season, the Barton Community College volleyball team rose above .500 with a non-conference sweep Monday night at the Barton Gym over the junior varsity squad from Sterling College. The Cougars improved to 4-3 on the season taking the three sets 25-18, 25-20, and 25-21. Barton will hit the road for its next match returning to conference play at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Dodge City Community College before hosting another non-conference match Thursday against Ottawa University JV.
Olivia Naccarato was all over the net against the Lady Warriors recording three solo blocks and three assisted blocks while recording her second straight three-set match with nine kills to lead the Cougars. Coming off a career high .429 attack percentage on Saturday, fellow freshman Hannah Beam was close behind with eight kills coming on a new personal best .444 attack. Two additional freshmen, libero Lydia Konrade and Mallory McQueen, led the forty-three team digs with eleven each with McQueen leading in assists with thirty.
