Sam graduated from Pratt High School in 1947. He was co-owner of Pratt Auto and Equipment for 32 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, BPOE Elks #1451 and Experimental Aircraft Association. He was a private pilot and also held an aerobatic certificate. He enjoyed aircraft, motorcycles, boating, fishing, hunting, skiing and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; daughter, Diana (Bud) Moore of Medicine Lodge; son, Jay D. (Nancy) Bailey of Pratt; brothers, Gordon Bailey of Pratt and Roger (Linda) Bailey of Rogers, Arkansas; grandchildren, Justin Bailey of Pratt, Nicholas (Tiffany) Moore of Andover, Bryan Bailey of Pratt, Kyle Bailey of Pratt and Matt Moore of Greensboro, North Carolina; and great-grandchildren, Collin Moore, Mason Moore and Josie Woodson.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Darrell Bailey and Marion Bailey.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. A Private family service will be held at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to B-29 Museum or Pratt Area Humane Society in care of Larrison Mortuary.
