The Kansas City Renaissance Festival opens for its 40th season on Sept. 3 with the theme “Passport to the World”. This weekend will feature a fantasy mask competition, a unicorn, belly dancing and more!

The festival returns this year on Sept. 3, 4 and 5 with a live unicorn, daily craft beer tastings, chocolate and mead tastings, and more! Contests are open to the public. Any patron with a mask and form can participate in the Fantasy Mask competition and receive two free admission tickets! The Belly Dance contest is open to visitors with a registration form and a dancing spirit. All forms can be found at kcrenfest.com.

A $40,000 giveaway is another great reason to visit. Anyone has a chance to win $40,000 after guessing how many rubies are in the treasure chest during the first six weekends. There are no giveaways too large for 40 years!

During the first weekend anyone who brings 5 non-perishable food items for the Harvester’s food drive can receive a buy one, get on free ticket. Visitors from Bonner Springs and Edwardsville can receive $3 off their admission and any military personnel can receive a buy one, get one free special at the box office.

Following Passport to the World weekend the festival will showcase six different themes including Highland Fling, Ales and Tails, Shamrocks and Shenanigans, Wine Chocolate and Romance, Buccaneer Beer Fest, and Witches and Wizards.

The Kansas City Renaissance Festival keeps the magic with new events and old favorites. Stop by and be part of the 40 years. Huzzah!
