Rice County Historical Society Buffalo Soldier Presentation May 1, 2021

On May 1, 2021, Henry Crawford, the retired Curator of History at the Museum of Texas Tech University,  will present a program about the “Buffalo Soldiers Protecting the Santa Fe Trail” at the Rice County Historical Society’s Coronado Quivira Museum.   For four decades, Crawford has shared his expertise on western frontier, economic, and military history at museums, schools and historic sites nationwide. 

Because of the coronavirus, the Saturday presentation at 10:00 a.m., attendees are required to wear masks and maintain social distances.  The presentation will be Zoom for those registering by Friday April 30, 2021.  It will also be videoed and placed on Coronado Quivira Museum’s website, the one with the wagon.  This is the first of four programs about the Buffalo Soldiers to be presented in May and June at the Museum.     

The Coronado Quivira Museum is located at 105 West Lyon, Lyons, Kansas.  Hours of operation are Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Call (620) 257-3941 for more information.
