Quarterly Meeting of the Governor’s Council

The Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors will hold its quarterly meeting on June 9 in Manhattan. The meeting will focus on growing the state’s agricultural economy.
WHAT/WHO: Kansas Secretary of Agriculture Jackie McClaskey will provide an overview of the Kansas Department of Agriculture’s role in economic growth, and KDA Deputy Secretary Josh Roe will discuss food and food processing.
A business panel will discuss opportunities and challenges to growth for agricultural industries. Panelists include:
 Tracy Brunner, vice president, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.
 Justin Gilpin, CEO, Kansas Wheat Commission.
 Brent Sullivan, CEO, Jose Peppers.
 Melissa Hildebrand Reed, Hildebrand Dairy.
 Brian Hemann, managing partner, Ag Oasis.
 Kent Glasscock, president, Kansas State University Institute for Commercialization.
Additional topics to be covered include the expansion of value-added industries and agricultural exports. An economic overview and labor market report will also be presented at the meeting.
