The Springfield News-Leader reported a group of 12 World War II veterans where treated to a fishing trip Thursday at Bois D’Arc Aquatic Resource Education Pond near Springfield Missouri. The veterans are residents at Morningside of Chesterfield and although most have plenty fishing experience it had been years since they wet a line.

Navy recruiting officers were on hand to help veterans get off the bus, find a fishing spot, bait hooks, cast lines and  get the fish unhooked and thrown back into the water.

Susan Owensby, activity director at Morningside was also on hand and thanked the Navy and Missouri Conservation Department  for helping to make the day a success.
