SSG to host Inaugural Pumpkin Run for Kids

The Sunflower State Games is pleased to announce that it will be hosting its inaugural Pumpkin Run on Saturday, October 29th. The Pumpkin Run is a one mile fitness run for kids, Pre-School through 6th Grade. The course will follow the perimeter of the Sunflower Soccer Association Complex in Topeka.

Registration for the event is now open at www.sunflowergames.com. The entry fee for the event is $15 for an individual registration. Discounted registrations are also being accepted for classrooms or teams. Any teacher or coach who submits a minimum of 10 registrations for their students or athletes will pay $12 per entry. All pre-registered participants will receive a Commemorative T-shirt, one free game of bowling courtesy of Gage Bowl, one free game of miniature golf compliments of Sports Center, a variety of coupons from our valued partners, post-event snacks and refreshments, and the chance to win various gifts and prizes from our sponsors.

The deadline to register is Wednesday, August 19th. Day of entries will be accepted on-site for $15; however day of entries will not receive Commemorative T-shirts or race packets. Participant check-in will begin at 8:00 a.m. Event start times will be divided by age group and are posted at www.sunflowergames.com.

The Pumpkin Run presents another opportunity provided by the Sunflower State Games for area youth children to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. The event is a fitness/fun run, therefore, no official results or race times will be posted. Participants will keep their own run time. Race Clock will be located at the Start/Finish line. The Sunflower State Games will once again return to Topeka in 2017. The Olympic style sports festival is set to host over 45 different events next July. Event information will be available to the public in January at www.sunflowergames.com.
