Take back the calendar on National Plan for Vacation Day

Camp site at night

Every year more than half of Americans fail to use their time off. That’s a shame, because studies show that taking vacation time promotes better health, improves relationships, and even helps you perform better at work.

So what’s getting in the way? It may be as simple as a lack of planning. Join us on January 30, National Plan Your Vacation Day, and make plans for time off that makes all those hours in the office worth it.

The best part is you don’t have to look very far for a beautiful place to relax and escape. Try a Nebraska state park.

Whether you’re seeking the ultimate in modern conveniences in a picturesque outdoor setting, or want to get back to nature amid the unspoiled beauty of the wilderness, you’ll find just that in Nebraska’s beautiful state parks. Ten parks offer a variety of cabin and lodge rooms in some of Nebraska’s most scenic settings. Check it out.

Hunters and anglers, you’ve got some great options for a vacation to remember, as well. See the 2018 Fishing Forecast and our hunting page for some ideas to get started.

Big Game Society to auction elk tag April 12

A bull elk tag will be auctioned off by the Nebraska Big Game Society on Thursday, April 12 in Lincoln. The event will be held at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club, 1800 Wilderness Woods Place.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the elk tag auction will be used by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission for the preservation of elk herds and hunting opportunities in the state.

Those who wish to bid but cannot attend may call in their bids for free. Call-in bidders must first notify the NBGS by 5 p.m. on April 5 at 402-430-9191 or via email at [email protected]. Learn more.
