With the onset of colder weather Northern Pike fishing at Kingman State Lake should improve.  A rare treat in Kansas the northern Pike are active in colder water and are aggressive feeders; attacking about any lure at any time. Northern pike were once stocked at several Kansas impoundments during the late 1960s and 1970s to provide another large sportfish. Stocking were soon discontinued except at Kingman State Fishing Lake. Which has habitat particularly suited to Northern Pike; this habitat has lead to reproducing fish and quality growth rate of stocked fish.  Fish approaching 30″ where captured in 2015 fall samples.
