PRATT – If you’re a trail-lover, a wildlife enthusiast, or are just looking for some unique outdoor photo opportunities, mark your calendar for the Great Plains Nature Center’s 31st Annual Walk with Wildlife event. Held at Chisholm Creek Park, 6232 E. 29th Street North, Wichita, the walk will take place on Saturday, June 13 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
During the event, visitors can leisurely stroll along the park’s universally-accessible nature trail as they get up-close with a variety of wildlife species at stations set up along the way. Volunteers will be at each station to visit with guests and answer questions. Apart from wildlife viewing, visitors can also enjoy:
-Wichita Eagle Kids Fishing Clinic (registration form available in the Wichita Eagle newspaper)
-Lunch concessions
-Kids scavenger hunt
-Programs, movies and activities in the Coleman Auditorium
-Hands-on animal, plant and habitat displays in the Koch Habitat Hall
Kiddos also might see a familiar face walking along the trail as “Curious George” from KPTS Channel 8 and “Barry the Bison” from the Wichita Parks and Recreation Department will be making the rounds.
Before heading home, visitors can visit the Owl’s Nest Gift Shop located inside the Great Plains Nature Center to purchase a souvenir to help them remember their wild day.
Admission donations are $2 per person, and strollers are welcome. This event is sponsored by Spirit Aerosystems.
