Tomato Tasting Winner!

Mountain Magic – A “magical” moment occurred at the Harvey County Fair.
The biggest tomato isn´t always the best! The reddest tomato doesn´t always win the
Harvey County Master Gardeners test tomato varieties provided by Kansas
State University experiment in the county.

This years winning tomato in the Tomato Tasting Table event at the
Harvey County Fair is the variety “Mountain Magic”.  Mountain Magic
produces high yields of 2 oz. fruit.  This tomato is a bright red,
round salad tomatoes with very sweet flavor. They are uniform, crack-
resistant fruits.    Great in salads or right off the vine.  This tomato
has intermediate resistance to early blight. WhiIe its vines are
indeterminate.  You can find seed from several seed catalogs online.

Speaking of the master gardeners, enrollment will end soon on this
falls class!  The Basic Master Gardener Volunteer Training Course
starts September 10 and meets on Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
