If you’re like me, you’re going to come up with a few things to declare your New Year’s Resolutions. Maybe it will be exercising more or starting a new diet. While these resolutions are a great form of self-improvement, Harvey County 4-H Youth Development program has a couple of ideas that will make your resolutions beneficial to the whole family.
Help Your Kids Flourish
By allowing your children to explore and learn new skills, newfound abilities will help your child grow. With over 30 4-H projects to choose from, there is surely a project that can spark your child’s interest. By continuous learning through hands on experiences, 4-H members develop mastery of subjects and, in turn, build self-confidence. Whether it’s attending club meetings or raising an animal, 4-H brings families together. Make the resolution to commit your time to trying something new with the 4-H program.
Do Good unto Others
Involve the kids in your plans to give back. Harvey County 4-H Clubs focus on many service projects throughout the year. Whether it be organizing a park cleanup, helping out in the homeless shelter, or even volunteering for a local event, 4-H can help you find an age-appropriate way to introduce the next generation to the idea of philanthropy.
Develop Meaningful Relationships
Taking the time to invest in other people can be very rewarding. I encourage you to not only to continue to build the relationships that you already have, but to nurture new ones. 4-H clubs meet once a month for a Community Club meeting. This is a chance for 4-H families to gather together and meet new friends. Youth who are enrolled in 4-H projects are able to develop meaningful relationships with adults who lead those projects. Over several years, these mentor relationships become profoundly important to youth as they become young adults. If you want to make a resolution that will benefit your whole family, plan to get involved with the Harvey County 4-H Youth Development program.
