Hitting a season high attack percentage the Barton Community College volleyball team hammered Dodge City Community College in straight sets Wednesday evening at the Barton Gym 25-13, 25-21, and 25-17. The victory improves Barton to 4-7 in the Jayhawk and 7-20 overall while Dodge City drops to 1-9 in conference and 3-22 on the season. The Cougars will have a week away from completion until next Wednesday as Butler Community College comes to the Barton Gym for a 6:30 p.m. conference first serve.
As a team the Cougars attacked for a season high .333 as four players hit over .400 led by the thirty assist night from Mallory McQueen. Sophomores Emily Deterding and Jordan Edelman led the forty-one kill attack with nine each with Edelman reaching the .400 attack mark for the second time in the last four games while also contributing three assisted blocks. Olivia Naccarato continued her strong freshman campaign with a career high .500 attack with eight kills on fourteen swings with fellow first-year hitter Nathalia Gouveia finding the court seven times on a .316 attack. Lydia Konrade led the fifty-three Barton dig effort with seventeen while McQueen had twelve to record her ninth double-double of the season.
