MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas Department of Agriculture and Food Export Midwest will be hosting a value-added feed
ingredients buyers’ mission in Kansas City, Kansas on June 1-2. The first of its kind for suppliers in Kansas, the buyers’ mission
opens economic opportunities for value-added exports.
“Our 2013 economic data shows agriculture commodity exports equaled $4.9 billion or 40 percent of total Kansas exports. KDA
works to create opportunities for Kansas farmers, ranchers and agribusinesses to connect with global markets right here in a local
setting,” said Suzanne Ryan, KDA’s International Trade Director.
The registration deadline for the value-added buyers’ mission is April 22. Registering and paying a minimal fee for this event
enables vendors to meet one-on-one with feed ingredient buyers from Brazil, China, El Salvador, Korea, Netherlands and Vietnam..
Buyers from these countries have been verified and selected by Food Export Midwest and are interested in purchasing Kansas
Last year, similar feed ingredient buyers’ missions held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Des Moines, Iowa, resulted in increased
sales for participants by $32.2 million.
“It is a rare opportunity to have prearranged meetings with international buyers from around the world right in your backyard,”
said Brian Fisher, Kansas Liaison for Food Export Midwest. “You have the advantage of having the buyers’ complete attention,
unlike at a tradeshow when you have to compete for it.”
Interested in developing long-term supply chain partners, Food Export Midwest and KDA are supportive in the preparation and
follow up of this mission. As part of the overall mission of KDA, the agency provides support to help make Kansas businesses more
successful, expand markets for Kansas agricultural products and encourage agricultural businesses to expand in Kansas.
Buyers are interested in purchasing the following feed ingredients: Acidifiers, Alfalfa Meal and Pellets, Amino Acids, Beet Pulp,
Blood Plasma, Chicken powder, Colorants, Corn Gluten Meal, DDGS, Enzymes, Flavoring Ingredients, Fish Meal, Inoculants,
Lactose, Lysine, Meat/Bone Meal, Microbial Feed Additives, Milk Replacers, Mold Inhibitors, Preservatives, Silage Inoculants, Soy
