From Wendy’s® “Where’s the beef?” to Arby’s® “We have the meats,” meat is all around us on TV, in our kitchens and on our grocery lists. Beef is the second most popular meat in the US, and basking in its popularity and pop culture presence, the month of May has been designated National Beef Month to celebrate all that is ‘Beef.’

The top three beef-producing states for total cattle are as follows:

Texas- 13.1 million head
Nebraska- 6.85 million head
Kansas- 6.5 million head
In recent years, 2014 was the best year for beef revenue with $81,076,720.
There are 802,317 cow/calf farms and ranches.
The leading beef export country is South Korea, with 20,734 metric tons going over the course of 2020.
That is $154,553,000 in value.
