The third annual Play on a Plane Day happens May 21 at the Kansas Aviation Museum, 9 am – 5 pm. This is the one day of the year when many of the planes are open for visitors to go inside, including the massive B-52 which turns 61 next month.
Thanks to Skyward Credit Union’s support, Play on a Plane Day admission will be $8 for adults. Planes that will be open include: B-52, Braniff, Beech Starship, FedEx, and the T-37 Tweet.
Inside the Museum, you’ll see exhibits covering the history of aviation in Wichita, along with fully restored aircraft dating back to the 1927 Swallow. Take the elevator up to see the women in aviation and Boeing exhibits. If you’re inclined, climb the stairs to the historic air traffic control tower, one of the first in our country.
