The Barton Community College volleyball program is offering volleyball skill camps and leagues during the month of June. Featuring three levels of instructional camps, position specific training will also be offered in addition to three levels of leagues throughout the month of June beginning Monday June 1st. Early registration is encouraged as space is limited for each camp and league. Skill Camp information:
Advanced Skills Camp – June 8-11
A challenging four day volleyball training experience for players ready to compete at the high school varsity and junior varsity level. Usually fitting the 9-12 grade levels, this skill camp will emphasize the development of solid technical and tactical skills utilizing games, contests and prizes in a fun, competitive atmosphere. Held in the Kirkman Activity Center and the Barton Gym, cost is $155 per player and includes a camp t-shirt with room and meal options available adding to the camper’s convenience and experience.
Beginner Skills Camp – June 15-16
This skill camp is a terrific two day experience introducing a solid foundation to the fundamental skills of the game and open to participants typically entering grades 4-6. The Beginner Skills Camp will include a lot of drills and games to develop individual skill proficiency and confidence and serves as a great introduction to the Intermediate Skills Camp. Held in the Kirkman Activity Center and the Barton Gym, cost is $100 per player and includes a camp t-shirt.
Intermediate Skills Camp – June 22-24
An exciting, fast paced, three day camp for players focusing on the FUNdamental skills required for volleyball success. The camp will include a lot of drills, games, contests, and prizes in a fun, cooperative and success-oriented atmosphere. Perfect for participants with at least one year of organized volleyball training, this skill camp usually fits the 6-9 grade levels. Held in the Kirkman Activity Center and the Barton Gym, cost is $125 per player and includes a camp t-shirt.
Position Specific Training (Level 1 – June 17; Level 2 – June 18)
Level 1 is designed for players entering the 6-9 grade levels while Level 2 is for 10-12 grades as players are given the option of choosing setting, hitting and blocking, or passing and defense. Each specific training camp date will have a morning and afternoon session as players will receive specific individual skill training. Competitive, game-like drills will highlight the afternoon session to further enhance skills. Held in the Kirkman Activity Center and the Barton Gym, cost is $25 for half day instruction or only $35 per player for a full day’s instruction.
League information:
Middle School League – June 2-30
The middle school level league will be held Tuesday evenings, beginning June 2 and continuing through June 30. Held at the Great Bend High School Panther Athletic Center, cost is $50 per player and includes a league t-shirt.
Junior Varsity League – June 1-29
The junior varsity/ C-team level league will be held Monday evenings beginning June 1 and continuing through June 30. Held at the Great Bend High School Panther Athletic Center, cost is $50 per player and includes a league t-shirt.
Varsity Level League – June 1-30
The varsity level league will be held on Monday and Tuesday evenings, beginning June 1 and continuing through June 30. Held in the Kirkman Activity Center and the Barton Gym, cost is $65 per player and includes a league t-shirt.
