Pratt: On May 23, 12 miles west of Pratt on U.S. 54 there was a three-vehicle accident that claimed the lives of a Haysville couple and injured two from Toronto, Kansas.

Killed in the accident were 60-year-old Nasario Trujillo and 58-year-old Mary Trujillo both of Haysville. Injured were 52-year-old Kim Boone and 48-year-old Karla Boone both of Toronto. The accident occurred at 11:05 a.m.  The accident occurred when an eastbound 2013 International semi with two trailers, driven by 65-year-old Roger Calvin of Winfield went left of center and struck a westbound 2003 Dodge Dakota, driven by Nasario Trujillo.  Both vehicles went into the north ditch where a 2000 GMC Yukon, driven by Kim Boone, also went into the ditch and hit the Dodge, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol on-line crash logs.  The Trujillos were pronounced dead at the scene. Pratt County EMS transported Kim Boone to Pratt Regional Medical Center and Karla Boone to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Calvin was not injured. There was rain in the area at the time of the accident. Everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt.
