2020 Events Calendar

Every Saturday Through October 31st

McPherson County Farmer’s Market- Every Saturday morning through October 31st from 7:30 a.m.-12 noon. The market will take place in the Blue Roundtop, 710 W. Woodside. Eggs, flowers, produce, baked goods, meat, and more!

Every Sunday in September

Bingo at the McPherson American Legion, 401 N. Main. The Early Bird Session start at 2:30 p.m. Regular Games begin at 3:15 p.m.

Now Through Saturday, October 31st

First Annual Fossil 5K Virtual Run– hosted by the McPherson Museum. Registration fee: $35 per person. Participants will receive a one-of-a kind medal and T-shirt. Run or walk

Growth and Development Screening– 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. in Galva. Birth to age 5. Due to COVID-19, screening might be cancelled and/or change depending on state recommendations. Call the Early Childhood Office for an appointment, 620-241-9590.

2020 Coronado Heights VIRTUAL Run. 5K Virtual, 15K Virtual, 1-Mile Youth Virtual Fun Run, or 2-Mile Virtual Walk. Run or walk your race from any location you choose. Register at www.active.com. Registration ends October 3rd. Run your race October 3-10. For more information go to the 2020 Coronado Heights VIRTUAL Run Facebook page. 3rd Annual 2020 Bluestem PACE Virtual Walk/Run 5K Race– 9 a.m. Registration fee: $35 (includes a t-shirt) Race registration fees will benefit the Bluestem PACE Good Neighbor Fund. Monday, October 5th

Globe Refiners Statue Unveiling Ceremony– 5 p.m. at the McPherson Community Building, 122 E. Marlin. Live stream of the ceremony will be available on City of McPherson Local Government Facebook page.

Seventh Day Slumber Concert Recovery Tour- 6 p.m. at Lakeside Park, 500 W. Lakeside Drive. Hosted by MP Naz Church’s Life Recovery. Free concert. An evening of entertainment and an opportunity to address issues related to mental health. Social distancing guidelines and the use of face masks are requested.

Friday, October 9th

McPherson Police Department Meet and Greet- 7 p.m.-10 p.m. at the McPherson Community Building, 122 E. Marlin. Hosted by the McPherson Police Department. The movie, “Officer Involved” will be shown, as well as a slide show featuring some of your favorite Officers with citizens. Corn hole games will be set up and items will be for sale for the McPherson Police Benefit Fund Association. COVID-19 guidelines will be adhered to.

Saturday, October 10th

Scout Golf Tournament- at the McPherson Country Club, 1396 Pioneer Road. Check In: 8 a.m. Tee Off / Shotgun Start: 9 a.m. 18 hole, 4-person scramble. All are welcome! Contact Jim Leach at 620-241-8181 or 620-245-7219. All proceeds will be distributed to McPherson County scouting units.

Oktoberfest- a fundraiser for St. Joseph Catholic School, 520 E. Northview Ave. Not an “in person” event. Preorder bierocks, German sausage, ham & dumpling soup, cinnamon rolls and more. DEADLINE TO ORDER: October 2nd. Food pickup times: 11 a.m.-7 p.m. in the south parking lot of the school. $1 raffle tickets also available for various prizes OR purchase a $50 raffle ticket for the Reverse Raffle Drawing for a $10,000 grand prize. Sunday, October 11th

Falun Classic Bike Ride- 12:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Hosted by the McPherson Amateur Radio Club. The ride will start and end at Swenson Park, 400 block of North Main in Lindsborg. A 32-mile loop through Smoky Valley and the town of Falun on paved roads. Register at www.bikereg.com and enter in Falun Classic to find 2020 ride registration. Monday, October 12th

Elyria Christian School BBQ Dinner- 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at the 4-H Building, 710 W. Woodside, in McPherson. Hosted by Elyria Christian School. Featuring Knackies Brisket & BBQ Sauce! There will be NO DINE IN this year. Two ordering options are available: 1) Call Ahead Ordering at 620-386-0523 or 620-755-0640; 2) Carside Ordering when you pull up to the 4-H Building.

Saturday, October 17th

2nd Annual Teuton 5K Run/Walk & 2-Mile Color Dash- at 101 N. Main in Inman.

Registration is at 7 a.m. Race will start at 8 a.m. Hosted by the Inman Elementary PTO. Strollers & wagons are welcome! First Annual Painting with Hope Fundraiser- 3 p.m.-5 p.m. at the McPherson Opera

House, 219 S. Main. Create a fun canvas artwork to take home. Event will be limited to

DEA National Prescription Drug Take-Back– 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Law Enforcement

Center, 1177 W. Woodside. Hosted by the McPherson Police Department and County Sheriff’s Office. Visit the McPherson KS Police Department Facebook page for specifics concerning what can and cannot be taken during the Take-Back Event.

Thursday, October 29th

Trick or Treat Main Street- 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. (or until candy runs out!) In Downtown McPherson. Trick or Treat with McPherson merchants up and down Main Street.

Friday, October 30th and Saturday October 31st

Sunday, November 1st – Thursday, December 31st

Candy Cane Cash! Shop local to check off your Christmas lists and get registered to win! Shop at participating stores November 1st through December 31st, 2020 and earn points to enter for the Candy Cane Cash. You could win a $1,000 OR $500 in Candy Cane Cash just for shopping locally! Thursday, November 5th

Snowball Drop will be inside the Community Building, for kids and adults. Santa will do a special kiddie toss. Adult toss prizes include coupons, gift cards, and merchandise to encourage shopping locally. Part of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce and McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion.

Friday, November 6th – Sunday, November 8th

Holiday Open House Weekend- Start checking those lists for who’s naughty or nice and get an early start on your Christmas shopping. Sample treats and see what’s new this year at citywide locations. Individual store hours. Part of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce and McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion.

Wednesday, November 18th

Buffalo Auction– 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, 2565 Pueblo Road in Canton. Auction will start at 11 a.m. Call KDWPT for further information – 620-628-4592.

Thursday, November 19th

Girl’s Night Out- 4 p.m.-9 p.m. Earn TRIPLE Candy Cane Cash points as you shop tonight and make out your wish list. Citywide locations, refreshments, drawings, and more! Part of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce and McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion.

Thursday, November 26th

25th Annual McPherson Community Thanksgiving Dinner- CURBSIDE PICKUP ONLY. A slightly modified menu to accommodate 100% “carryout” meals. Volunteers needed for: food prep, serving line for preparing carryout meals, “runners” to deliver packaged meals to vehicles, and help with traffic control.
