Thursday, May 19 at 9 a.m., during the monthly “Coffee at the Cosmo” event, the Cosmosphere will celebrate the 55-year anniversary of the historic John F. Kennedy speech to Congress, where he stated the U.S. would land on the Moon before the end of the ‘60s.
Collections Manager for the Cosmosphere, Shannon Whetzel, will provide information on how this proclamation incited a political and scientific war with the Soviet Union, creating the “Space Race” and eventually leading to “one small step” for all of mankind.
