Reins of Hope is a not-for-profit therapeutic horseback riding program. Their mission is to enhance the lives of students with disabilities. In 2014 they provided therapeutic riding to over 175 individuals ranging in from 2 years of age to 65+. How does this work? When riding, the horse’s gentle motion stimulates muscles and increases circulation, balance, strength, and control for the individual. Also it improves the rider’s emotional skills, such as concentration, patience, self-esteem, and interpersonal relationships. In the 20 years of providing services, the rates for riders have never increased and we have never had to turn a rider away for lack of funds due to community support. In order to continue providing services we need your help. How can I help? You can become a volunteer, prepare lunches, sponsor a student or a horse, donate money and/or feed for our horses. You can also support Reins of Hope when you shop. Simply register and use your Dillon’s Plus Shopper’s card! You can apply for a Dillon’s Plus Shopper’s card or enroll your current Dillon’s Plus Shoppers card on line at www.dillons.com/communityrewards.
