The Environmental Protection Agency and the Union Pacific Railroad have reached an agreement to resolve violations of the Clean Water Act in Herrington from January of 2012. Union Pacific will pay a civil penalty of $24,000 and complete a Supplemental Environmental Project valued at $333,100. The proposed settlement is subject to a 40-day public comment period before it becomes final. That period will end on December 15, 2016.
