2013 Kansas Newspaper Hall of Fame inductee Bill Brown passed away on September 10. He was born on Oct. 2, 1924 in Burrton, Kan., and grew up in Halstead. In 1949 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications from Kansas State College. Bill worked as a newspaper editor and publisher with Harris News Group and was the Director of Student Publications and Assistant Professor at Kansas State University College of Journalism from 1970 to 1986. In 1986 he earned his Master of Journalism at the City University of London. He was also a writing coach for Harris News Group from 1991 to 2000. He was a past president of the Kansas Press Association, a Clyde M. Reed Jr. Master Editor and 2013 inductee into the Kansas Newspaper Hall of Fame.
