Police investigating Butler County shooting

The Butler County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a shooting, which occurred at approximately 11:45 p.m. Sunday evening in rural El Dorado.  “Sheriff’s deputies arrived at 3946 SW Haverhill Road, lot two, a mobile home park, to find two men, one with a single gunshot wound,” said Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet. “The uninjured man indicated he had shot the man after an altercation. Butler County EMS arrived on the scene and triaged the white male with the gunshot would. They pronounced him deceased at the scene. ” Detectives immediately wrote a search warrant and brought the uninjured male to the department for questioning. “The uninjured man who called 911 was the homeowner on the lot,” Herzet explained. “He has been interviewed and has been very cooperative as to what occurred.” As of Monday morning, no charges have been filed, but the department is continuing their search for an outstanding suspect. “We’re looking for a suspect for questioning,” Herzet said. “He is a hispanic male who fled the scene after the shooting.” He also encouraged the public to notify the Sheriff’s Department if they have any information. “Anyone that was in the area of that park last night and might have any information for us, needs to call the Butler County Sheriff’s Department at 316-322-4254 or 911 immediately,” he said.
