Cottonwood Falls: King of the Prairie Tallest bluestem contest winners announced

The “King of the Prairie: Tallest bluestem contest has announced the winners. In the Youth Division- First place went to James Bell with his entry being 9 feet 2 inches tall (was also named Overall Grand Champion – King of the Prairie!), second place went to Luke McBrike and Jake Sollner with their 8 foot 6.5-inch entry and third place went to Makayla Matile with 8 foot 5.75-inch entry. The Adult Division winners were first place to Julia McBride with 9 feet 1 inche entry, second place to Deanna Sollner with 8 foot 7 inches and third going to Kevin and Becky Collins with 8 foot 3.75 inches. All the grass entries were on display at the Symphony in the Flint Hills Gallery during the Chase County Christmas on Saturday, November 26.
