The Cheney Middle School Verizon App team will be on the KWCH Brett and Sierra Show January 20 at 4:30 for designing the C@rdinal Tutor app that was named one of 12 Verizon Innovative App Challenge Best in Region winners.
Team members Taylor Schwartz, Madison Murray, Emily Ryba, Caden Hampton, Seth Teague, Logan Doshier will also be interviewed by the Verizon app panel live via Webex January 21 regarding their app.
The team was presented with a challenge to identify a problem in their school or community; explain how the problem effects their school or community; come up with a mobile app to help solve the problem; explain the concept behind the app; describe the mobile app features that will be used; and create a video presentation about their app.
The Verizon App team interviewed 7th & 8th grade students to identify problem areas. The survey indicated organization and time management skills were the number one problem with academic challenges a close second. The team then came up with the idea for a tutoring app with an organization section, and a unique feature for students with special needs such as ADHD.
