Sterling performed at the top of their game and finished in first place for the first time this season with a score of 157.25.
“Tonight was our time to shine and they did just that. Last weekend’s competition was an eye-opener and a new experience for most on the squad,” said Head Coach Jessica Boor. “Tonight they were a different squad when they hit the mat. They gave it their all and held every stunt. We had to change a few things up for this competition, and I believe it was for the better. I thank everyone for their support, and I am looking forward to what more Sterling Cheer has to show.”
“Cheering on our home court was as amazing feeling to do, especially for the first time,” said sophomore cheerleader Ashley Burns (SO/Wichita, Kan.). “Our squad truly came together for our last performance and hitting that last pose was truly the most rewarding feeling after hitting everything we practiced so hard for.”
The Sterling Cheer team’s next competition will be on February 20 in Salina, Kan., during the KCAC Cheer and Dance Championships.
