Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. / Sunday 1 p.m.-5 p.m. The Gallery will be maintaining the suggested guidelines of the State’s Reopening Plan. Featured exhibits at the Gallery through August 16th are: paintings by Steve Scott, enamels by Fern Aspelin Cole, and mixed media pieces by James Mages.

Every Saturday Through October 31st

McPherson County Farmer’s Market– Every Saturday morning through October 31st from 7:30 a.m.-12 noon. The market will take place in the Blue Roundtop, 710 W. Woodside. Eggs, flowers, produce, baked goods, meat, and more!

 

Friday, July 24th

Music & Movies Live at Lakeside– at the Lakeside Park Bandshell, 510 Lakeside Drive. Music, on the east side of the Bandshell, will be provided by Sam Unruh from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. The movie at the Bandshell, which will begin at 9:15 p.m., will be “A Dog’s Journey,” sponsored by Hutton Construction. Proceeds from the evening will go to benefit the McPherson Boys Scouts.

 

Friday, July 24th – Monday, July 27th

4-H County Fair in McPherson, KS. A modified format this year with no public displays or events. Photos, live streaming, and results will be available on the McPherson County 4-H Facebook page.

 

Saturday, July 25th

14th Annual Youth Fishing Derby– 8 a.m.-12 noon at Lakeside Park. Hosted by city of McPherson and McPherson Park Department. A FREE event for ages 6-15 years. Registration starts at 8 a.m. Fishing Derby is 10 a.m.-12 noon. Prizes will be awarded. Go to the Visit McPherson Facebook page for more information.

 

Grand Opening– 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. at the Canton Township Carnegie Library, 210 N. Main in Canton. Come see the beautiful NEW/OLD Library and learn what it can do for you! Social distancing will be observed.

 

Friday, July 31st

Inman Elementary Preschool Screenings– 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at Inman Elementary School, 207 N. Maple. For children 3 or 4 years old on or before August 31, 2020. Sign up for an appointment time on the USD 448 website at www.usd448.com

 

Saturday, August 1st

Marquette EMS City Wide Garage Sale & Pancake Feed in Marquette. Pancake feed: 7 a.m.-11 a.m. at the American Legion, 121 N. Washington in Marquette. For more information on how to sign your garage sale up go to the Marquette KS EMS Facebook page. This is a fundraiser to support Marquette EMS volunteers and EMS service equipment.

 

Rodeo Run– Event starts at the Kansas Motorcycle Museum, 120 N. Washington in Marquette. 5K Race and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk. Trail Ride– at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, 2565 Pueblo Road in Canton. Trail ride is pending due to corona guidelines.  Call 620-628-4455 to confirm event is happening.

 

Friday, August 7th

First Fridays in Inman – 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Downtown Inman. Sponsored by the Inman Chamber of Commerce. Plenty of cars to see, good food, and some great music. Check Inman Community Event Facebook page for more information.

 

Saturday August 8th

2nd Annual Yard Sale– 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Hosted by the McPherson County Humane Society, 201 S. Elm. All proceeds to benefit the Humane Society.

 

Music & Movies Live at Lakeside– at the Lakeside Park Bandshell, 510 Lakeside Drive. Music, on the east side of the Bandshell, will be provided by Y Not Us from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Proceeds from the evening will go to benefit Meals on Wheels & the McPherson County Food Bank.

2nd Annual Yard Sale– 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Hosted by the McPherson County Humane Society, 201 S. Elm. All proceeds to benefit the Humane Society.

 

10th Annual Co-ed Mud Volleyball Tournament– 8 a.m. at the Wolverine Sports Complex, 310 Harold St. in Marquette. For more information, or to register your team call 785-546-7997.

McPherson High School Graduation– 10 a.m. Date has been tentatively rescheduled for this date. Go to the USD 418 Facebook page for updates on the event.

 

Americart Documentary World Premiere– 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main. The documentary addressed the art and culture found in seven states across the U.S. during 2019, with McPherson as one of their destination stops. Friday, August 14th – Sunday, August 16th

Swiss Family Robinson– at the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main. Performances on August 14th & 15th will be 7 p.m. Showtime on August 16th will be at 2 p.m. A benefit for the McPherson Opera House. Tickets can be purchased at www.mcphersonoperahouse.org.

 

Saturday, August 15th

Fall Wildflowers– 9:30 a.m. at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, 2565 Pueblo Road in Canton. Fall Wildflower Tour is pending due to corona guidelines.  Call 620-628-4455 to confirm event is happening.

 

Music & Movies Live at Lakeside– at the Lakeside Park Bandshell, 510 Lakeside Drive. Music, on the east side of the Bandshell, will be provided by Petty Cash from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Proceeds from the evening will go to benefit FUSE. The McPherson Water Park will be open. There will also be lots of family fun activities provided by the McPherson Fire Department.

 

Lindsborg Street Dance– 8 p.m.-11 p.m. Downtown Lindsborg, 100 S. Main. Back by popular demand – King Midas and the Muflers! Bring the family, your lawn chair, and get ready to dance the night away!

Fall Open House– in Downtown McPherson. Check out fall merchandise as you gather gift ideas for your family and back-to-school bargains. Citywide!

Saturday, September 5th

Wildflowers Photography Tour– at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, 2565 Pueblo Road in Canton. Tour is geared toward photography enthusiasts. Check-in time for tour is 7:45 a.m. The tour will start at 8 a.m. Cost: $30 each. Reservations required by calling 620-628-4455.

 

“Maxwell Wildlife Game Preserve”– 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at the McPherson Museum, 1111 E. Kansas. Hosted by the McPherson County Historical Society. Program is open to the public and free of charge.

 

Monday, September 14th

Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival– 7 p.m.-10 p.m. at the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main. An evening of high-adrenaline action, with films that will transport you to far flung places across the globe! For more information go to the film festival’s Facebook page.

 

Sunday, September 20th

Fall Trail Ride– at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, 2565 Pueblo Road in Canton. Bring your horse and ride the 2800-acre prairie. Ride starts promptly at 10 a.m., lunch break, then back out for the afternoon. Cost for full day/meal: $35 each, ½ day/ meal: $25 each. Reservations or more information call 620-628-4455.

 

Friday, September 25th

McPherson Chamber of Commerce Classic: “Par-Tee On” Golf Tournament- at Turkey Creek Golf Course, 1000 Fox Run. Registration/Lunch will start at 11:300 a.m. Tee off at 12:30 p.m. For information  contact the McPherson Chamber of Commerce at 241-3303 or  www.mcphersonchamber.org.

 

Saturday, September 26th

Santa Fe Days and Car Show– in downtown Inman. In addition to the Car Show, check out the Fun Run, Basket Auction, Fishing Derby, Kid’s Games, Car Wash Fundraiser, and live music by Salt city Cowboy Church Band.

 

Tuesday, September 29th

Taco Tuesday– at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 119 N. Elm. Hosted by Mt. Hope Sanctuary. Two serving times: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. / 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Carryout available. Bake sale also open during lunch and supper hours. All proceeds go directly to support Mt. Hope Sanctuary women and children.

 

Friday, October 2nd – Sunday, October 4th

Mountain Men Rendezvous and Festival– at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, 2565 Pueblo Road in Canton. A 3-day festival featuring Mountain Men, traders & trappers with demonstrations, entertainment, concessions, & prairie tram tours. Free gate entry. For more information please call 620-628-4455.

2020 Coronado Heights Run– 7 a.m.-10 a.m. 121 S. Main St. in Lindsborg. Registration: 6 a.m. 2-Mile Walk starts at 7:15 a.m. 5K & 15K starts at 7:30 a.m. 1-Mile Youth Fun Run (ages 5-14) starts at 8:30 a.m. For more information and to register go to the 2020 Coronado Heights Run Facebook page.

 

Burnin’ Down Main Cook-Off– 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Downtown Plaza in McPherson. Soup & Chili Cook-Off and Dessert Contest. Entries open in September to anyone who wants to win great cash prizes. $5 sampling wristbands sold to public who vote for favorites. Live music and family fun!

 

McPherson County Historical Society Meeting– 2 p.m. at the McPherson Museum, 1111 E. Kansas Ave. All historical society programs are open to the public and free of charge.

“Little Women: The Broadway Musical”– 7:30 p.m. both nights at Burnett Center, 335 E. Swensson in Lindsborg. The Bethany College Theatre Department will partner with Lindsborg’s Broadway R.F.D. for this special presentation. Tickets: $15 adults, $7 students. General admission.

 

Saturday, October 17th

2nd Annual Teuton 5K Run/Walk & 2-Mile Color Dash– at 101 N. Main in Inman. Registration is at 7 a.m. Race will start at 8 a.m. Hosted by the Inman Elementary PTO. Strollers & wagons are welcome! Trick or Treat Main Street– 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. (or until candy runs out!)  In Downtown McPherson. Trick or Treat with McPherson merchants up and down Main Street.

Sunday, November 1st – Thursday, December 31st

Candy Cane Cash! Shop local to check off your Christmas lists and get registered to win! Shop at participating stores November 1st through December 31st, 2020 and earn points to enter for the Candy Cane Cash. You could win a $1,000 OR $500 in Candy Cane Cash just for shopping locally!  A McPherson Chamber of Commerce & McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion.

 

Thursday, November 5th

Snowball Drop– 5:30 p.m. at the McPherson Community Building, 122 E. Marlin. Catch a numbered “snowball” and let the shopping begin! Snowball Drop will be inside the Community Building, for kids and adults. Santa will do a special kiddie toss. Adult toss prizes include coupons, gift cards, and merchandise to encourage shopping locally. Part of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce and McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion.

Holiday Open House Weekend– Start checking those lists for who’s naughty or nice and get an early start on your Christmas shopping. Sample treats and see what’s new this year at citywide locations. Saturday, December 5th

Main Street Mini-Main– 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Downtown location TBD. A children’s shopping experience for Pre-K through 5th grade. Elves help kids shop. All items $10 and under. Free gift wrapping. Cookies, crafts, AND a visit from Santa! Volunteers always needed.

 

Sunday, December 6th

After the tour enjoy cocoa or coffee and homemade cookies in the Visitor’s Center. Tour times: 10 a.m. & 11 a.m. Cost: $13 each for adults/ $6.50 each for children. Reservations required. Saturday, December 19th

Christmas on the Prairie– at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, 2565 Pueblo Road in Canton. An old-fashioned Christmas on the prairie, with a 45-minute tour in the covered winter tram. After the tour enjoy cocoa or coffee and homemade cookies in the Visitor’s Center. Tour times: 10 a.m. & 11 a.m. Cost: $13 each for adults/ $6.50 each for children. Reservations required. Wednesday, March 24th

Celtic Angels Ireland– 7:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. at the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main. Celebrating their cherished heritage through Irish dance, music, and song. Tickets can be purchased on the Opera House website at www.mcphersonoperahouse.org.

 

Saturday, May 1st

Kentucky Derby Tea Party– 2 p.m. at the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main. Can’t make it to the Churchill Downs? Head to the Opera House Grand Ballroom for a Kentucky Derby celebration. A popular annual event filled with culinary delights of sandwiches, scones, and desserts, live music, and fun surprises! Tickets will be available soon on the Opera House website.
