Is the patriotic speech of Patrick Henry just a quaint line from history? From a time when saying such words would get you hung? Have we had it too good for too long that we cannot appreciate all who sacrificed their ‘lives, fortunes, and sacred honor?’
Are those who would trade their liberties for safety actually deserving of safety? The answer now as then is NO!
We have allowed our children to be instructed by people who would have been labeled Loyalists in 1776 and ostracized from society. Today they would be called the ‘enlightened’, at least by themselves.
In a country that was founded on principles of God and Common Law we have become a society of ‘WHAT ABOUT ME’S? There is no right and wrong anymore unless you do not join the common mindset and turn your back on principle.
We are a country that was created on the foundation of your rights and power are given by God and not by the Government. Those who represent us in the necessary evil of government have become a group of self serving, greedy, and self aggrandizing individuals.
We have allowed a few with money and power to call the shots on how we live. We have elected people with allegiances to foreign powers who brought them to this country not to assimilate but to congregate and start to dominate our institutions.
How do a few honest and self sacrificing people get to the point of being effective once again? That is obvious. Since it was recognized that a president should only serve for a certain time period, is it not true that others do also.
The people who are robbing this country and trying to sell power have one thing in common. Time. We have people who have been permanently installed in office for decades.
The intent of the founders was for a citizen spend a short time in public office and go home to his job when the time was over. Most of our elected officials never move home again. Once they have made themselves wealthy they join some group that pays them more money to lobby.
All politics are local. This has been evident from the start of this great Republic. It is time for the citizen to stand up and demand a Convention of States to put time limits on elected officials. The Congress will not do it.
