The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department has released the identity of the man who was arrested after making threats on Facebook to the Sedgwick County Courthouse Thursday.

Lt. Lin Dehning, with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department, says 22-year-old Samuel A. McCrory was booked on one count of aggravated criminal threat and three counts of criminal possession of a firearm.

According to Sheriff Jeff Easter, the man posted on Facebook that he and others should storm the courthouse with weapons and kill officers if Carriker were found guilty. A jury on Thursday found that he was not guilty.

Easter said the sheriff’s office knew of McCrory. They have encountered him walking around town with an AR-15 rifle and pistol, expressing his legal Second Amendment rights. He had been reported by some citizens who were concerned.

“This is not normal behavior. This is not peaceful protesting. This is a credible threat, period,” Sheriff Easter said. “We have to address those immediately because that’s what we’re tasked to do as the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.”

Extra security was placed at the courthouse after citizens reported the postings, but once he was arrested, security reverted back to normal levels.
