Mason earns victory at Livingston PBR TPD event

PUEBLO, Colo. – With his victory at the Livingston Classic Touring Pro Division (TPD) event, Dave Mason (Bulahdelah, Australia) moved up in the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) world standings, earning valuable points before the start of the PBR’s Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) second half in Biloxi, Mississippi, on Aug. 7-8.

Mason earned 60 points toward the world standings after he went 2-for-2 at the Livingston, Montana, event on July 25. Mason rode to 90 points in Round 1, before putting up an 86.5-point effort in the championship round. It was his first TPD victory of the 2015 season and he now sits 32nd in the PBR. Mason also took home $6,351.09 in earnings.

Stetson Lawrence (Trenton, North Dakota) placed second in the event as the only other rider to cover both bulls. Lawrence had 87.5 points in Round 1 and then 82.5 points in the championship round to earn 30 world points along with $4,644.66.

Gage Gay (Staley, North Carolina) was third with an 87.5-point ride in Round 1 to finish with $2,462.02 along with 20 world points. Fourth place went to Brady Oleson (Blackfoot, Idaho) who covered his bull for 82.5 points in Round 1 to earn 15 world points and a paycheck of $1,549.28. Tayson Smith (Arbon, Idaho) was the only other rider to record a ride with his 80.5 points in Round 1 as he finished in fifth place for 10 world points and $866.71.

On Saturday, July 25, at the BlueDEF Velocity Tour (BDVT) event in Guymon, Oklahoma, one of the event’s namesakes, Kasey Hayes (Liberal, Kansas), picked up the victory at the Kasey Hayes/Stormy Wing Invitational with an 87.5-point ride in Round 1 before a monster 92 points in the championship round. Hayes won a paycheck of $9,725.12 and earned 80 points toward the world standings

Kaique Pacheco (Itatiba, Brazil) sent the bucking chutes cheering with his 94-point ride on Bruiser in the championship round. Added to his 84.5 points in Round 1, Pacheco finished in second with $7,019.64 and 50 world points.

Eduardo Aparecido (Sao Paolo, Brazil) finished third with 87.5 points in Round 1 before adding 87 points in the championship round. He earned 30 world points and $5,191.61. Cooper Davis (Jasper, Texas) took fourth place off an 89-point ride in Round 1. He earned 20 world points and $3,802.31 in earnings.

Thad Newell (Muskogee, Oklahoma) and Jay Miller (Liberty, South Carolina) finished in fifth and sixth place, respectively. Newell had an 87-point ride in Round 1 to earn 15 world points and $1,667.17, as Miller put up 86 points in Round 1 to earn 10 world points and $818.96.

At Cowboys Dancehall in San Antonio on July 25, Andrew Alvidirez (Seminole, Texas) had a ride worth 84.5 points as he won the TPD event. He earned 20 world points along with $2,469.42. Jeffrey Ramagos (Zachary, Louisiana) finished second with 83.5 points. He earned 15 world points and a paycheck of $2,103.58.

This weekend, the last BlueDEF Velocity Tour event of the summer will be held at the Big Sky Town Center in Big Sky, Montana, on July 30-31. Several of the PBR’s BFTS riders will be competing. Mike Lee (Decatur, Texas), Cody Nance (Paris, Tennessee), Nathan Schaper (Grassy Butte, North Dakota) and Matt Triplett (Columbia Falls, Montana) are just a few of the riders that will compete.

The Touring Pro Division will have two stops this coming weekend. On Friday and Saturday, July 31-Aug. 1, at the Ft. Meyers TPD event in Ft. Meyers, Florida, such riders as Sean Willingham (Summerville, Georgia), Dexter Herndon (Sneads, Florida) and Michael Lane (Tazewell, Virginia) are expected to ride.

The Koben Puckett Invitational at the Will Rogers Range Riders Bud Light Arena in Amarillo, Texas, will welcome Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert, Oklahoma), Jordan Hupp (Stephenville, Texas) and Renato Nunes (Buritama, Brazil) for the one-day event on Aug. 1.
