The only Kansas fair with a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) sanctioned rodeo and an Outlaw Tractor Pull kicks off this Saturday.

“It’s the 2015 annual Linn County Fair & Rodeo, August 1st through the 8th, at the fairgrounds in Mound City, Kansas,” according to Kelly Carbon, fair board president from Mound City.

Fair officially begins Saturday morning, Aug. 1, 10 o’clock, with the Cars, Bikes & Rock & Roll Show III, that will be free to the public. There will be divisions for most collectible cars, motorcycles and trucks, as well as hot rods, tractors and youth divisions. Live band music will start at 2 o’clock, and continues through early evening, featuring the Jason Kinney Band.

Demolition Derby, Saturday evening, at 8 o’clock, is to offer a record $7,400 in prize money, the largest amount ever paid at the exciting event. “We had a record 41 cars last year, and anticipate even more this time,” Carbon noted.

The 2015 Outlaw Truck & Tractor Pull gets underway Sunday evening, Aug. 2, 7 o’clock, with more than $20,000 in prize money. There will be divisions for pro stock 4×4 and diesel 4×4 pickups as well as limited pro stock, light super stock, and pro stock tractors. “We have a big screen replay to make all the action more thrilling for everyone,” Carbon said.

While traditional fair competitions are planned throughout the week, a Gospel Music Show, Thursday evening, Aug. 6, 8 o’clock, features “3D” with Delisa Dawn.

Cowboy Church, at 6 o’clock, Friday evening, precedes the first performance of the Linn County Fair Rodeo, at 8 o’clock, featuring livestock provided by New Frontier Rodeo Company of Roxbury.

“The rodeo both Friday and Saturday evenings will also highlight rodeo clown-funny man Andy Burelle; Cody McGee and his Cody’s Roundup, the Heartland Twisters drill team and bullfighters Wade Kunz and Broc McGuire,” Carbon said.

A Linn County Idol Contest is at 5 o’clock, Saturday, Aug. 8, with the final rodeo performance at 8 o’clock.

“This year’s rodeo is part of the Eastern Kansas Rodeo Series, with the Eureka Rodeo, August 7-8. Top point earning contestants in each event from both of those PRCA rodeos will receive special awards,” Carbon informed.

“Tickets for all of the special attractions at the fair can be purchased ahead of time at discount from Linn County Fair Queen Candidates,” Carbon said.
