Have you ever wanted to learn how to fish? Or tie a fishing knot? Or identify a fish? Or catch a fish? Then the Free Family Fishing Clinics offered by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation this summer are just right for you.
These clinics offer hands-on opportunities to learn about the sport of fishing in Oklahoma with lessons on basic fish identification, knot tying, safe casting and more. The best part about these clinics is that they are completely free and offer the opportunity to learn about the basics of fishing.
“This is a great chance for anyone looking to try out fishing for the first time, and participants don’t need to worry about bringing any gear or bait, as we have them covered,” said Daniel Griffith, Aquatic Resources Education Program coordinator and Information & Education specialist with the Wildlife Department.
Rods, reels, tackle and bait will be provided, and no fishing license will be required of participants while the clinic is being conducted. Clinics will be held throughout the summer in the evenings starting May 28 and running through July 30 at the Arcadia Conservation Education Area in Edmond, and at the Zebco Casting Pond next to the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks.
