“I believe that the United States as a government, if it is going to be true to its own founding documents, does have the job of working toward that time when there is no discrimination made on such inconsequential reason as race, color, or religion.” ~ Dwight D. Eisenhower, May 13, 1959
Abilene, Kan. – The next virtual book club will meet May 11 at 7 p.m. central time. The program is free and open to the public — join us online or by phone.
Join this program as if you were meeting your friends in a cozy café or living room with a glass of wine — even if you have not read the book. The May book selection is Not Without Laughter by Langston Hughes. This novel is essentially a “coming of age” story of a young African American boy growing up in a small Kansas town during the years preceding World War I.
The informal discussion will be led by Sandra Wiechert in partnership with Humanities Kansas. The entire reading list schedule is available on the Eisenhower Presidential Library’s website (www.eisenhowerlibrary.gov).
MEETING OPTIONS:
• Google Meet online: meet.google.com/evq-cutf-tnd
• Telephone: 617-675-4444 (PIN: 459 566 312 0745#)
