Margaret Allyn Greene Best announces publication of debut book, ‘Unsung Hero’
ORLANDO, Fla. – Margaret Allyn Greene Best’s new book, “Unsung Hero’” (published by Lulu), is a part memoir, part biography that celebrates the life of her father Albert V. Greene, a prisoner of war during World War II. The book shares Greene’s memoirs and includes the biography Best wrote about him.
“Heroes do not need or want accolades, however, those of us who know them, should share their stories so others can learn from them,” Best says.
Greene’s story begins with the family’s immigration to the U.S. and his father’s service during World War I. Greene himself served in the Second World War and wrote about his incarceration as a POW. The book continues with the biography of Greene, researched by Best and her brother. “Unsung Hero” concludes with family tributes given as Greene was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
“Every POW story is different,” Best says. “Many of our parents and grandparents never shared their stories with anyone… Every person has a unique story that needs telling.”

Margaret Allyn Greene Best is a retired elementary school teacher and writer. She has published in several magazines. An amateur genealogist, she has kept a journal all her life. Margaret is married and has three children and eight grandchildren. She and her husband live in the Villages, Florida. “Unsung Hero” is her first book.
