Fiddler on the Roof, from the book by Joseph Stein, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and music by Jerry Bock, is the charming story of a family’s attempt to maintain their Jewish religious and cultural traditions as outside influences encroach upon their town of Anatevka. Fiddler is based on Tevye and his Daughters (or Tevye the Dairyman) and other tales by Sholem Aleichem. The story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and their life in the Pale of Settlement of Imperial Russia. Fiddler on the Roof is and will always remain a beacon of life, love, and tolerance. The original Broadway production opened in 1964 and since then has been a testament to what “Tradition” really means.

Stage 9 is pleased to partner with The Hutchinson Symphony and The Fox Theatre to bring this production to life for the Hutchinson community after its most recent revival on the Broadway stage in 2015.
