The Odd Couple (Female Version) Pays a Visit to Stage 9 – Announcing Auditions

Hutchinson, Kan. – Stage 9 announces that auditions for the twentieth century comedy with a twist, The Odd Couple (Female Version) will be taking place at Stage 9 on Saturday,  April 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Stage 9 is located at 9 S. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas.

 

In The Odd Couple (Female Version) slovenly, easy-going Olive Madison is pitted against her roommate, the neat, uptight Florence Unger in this hilarious revival of Neil Simon’s comic classic. Simon reminds of why he reigns as a comic genius in a twist on his classic Odd Couple. In the female version, Oscar Madison and Felix Unger have been replaced with Olive and Florence and the hilarious Pigeon sisters are now the Costazeula brothers, Manolo and Jesus.

 

Auditions will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Interested actors who cannot attend the auditions during these times, please contact Producing Artistic Director, Charles Johnston, for alternate arrangements. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script, provided at the auditions. All interested actors should bring their schedules and conflicts to le the director know when they are available to rehearse. If actors have previous acting experience, they may choose to bring a headshot, resume and/or experiences to share with the director.

 

Stage 9 will be auditioning for the following roles:

 

Olive Madison:   A divorced, professional, quick-witted and vibrant women who is also horribly sloppy and careless.

Florence Unger:   A recently separated bookkeeper and homemaker who is a neatness and organization fanatic.

Manolo Costazuela:  Man who has recently moved from Barcelona, Spain and who had worked for Spanish airline, Iberia.

Jesus Costazuela:  Manolo’s brother who also moved from Barcelona and worked for the same airline.

Sylvie:  A highly energized smartaleck.

Mickey:  A New York City policewoman who is an organizer and a problem solver.

Renee:   A woman who is a wisecracker and a complainer.

Vera:  A woman who is slightly literal minded and slow.

 

A cast list will be posted online, on Facebook and at Stage 9 on Wednesday, April 26th, no later than 12 noon. Rehearsal will commence shortly after auditions, at a time and place to be announced. Performances for The Odd Couple (Female Version) are June 22-24, 2017 and June 29-July 1, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. with matinees on June 25 and July 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
