Goodson To Join Defenders

SIOUX CENTER, IA (03/23/2017)– Garrett Goodson, a senior at Kapaun Mt. Carmel High School (Kansas), has announced his intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender soccer program.

Goodson has 26 assists and six goals during his career while midfield and striker. He’s earned first-team all-city, first-team all-state and holds the state record for assists with 26. In 2016 Kapaun Mt. Carmel won the city league and regional championships and won the state quarterfinals. He also competed for the Wichita Rush Soccer Club. He’s listed 5-9, 155 pounds.

“Garrett is quick and explosive. He has excellent skills and a great knack for scoring. He has great instincts and is very creative. He is a great student and a very high character individual. We are elated that he has chosen Dordt College as a place to further his education, and continue his soccer career,” said Dordt College men’s soccer coach Craig Stiemsma.

Garrett is the son of Gary and Linda Goodson of Wichita, Kansas. He plans to study Pre-Med at Dordt College.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
