Wichita: Via Christi Hospital makes Dissolvable Stent for coronary artery disease patients available

Dissolving stents for the treatment of coronary artery disease is now available at Via Christy Hospital St. Francis Abbott’s Absorb was approved for commercial use in July 2016 by the U.S. Food and Drug Admission. The stent opens the blocked arteries as it expands the artery allowing for better blood flow. The dissolving stent are made of naturally dissolving material and will gradually disappears over approximately three years, while the now used metallic stents are permanent.
