The Barton Community College softball team went 1-1 on day two of the Region VI Division I Softball Tournament as the defending champion opened the day with a 3-1 victory over Colby Community College before falling in the nightcap 4-3 to host No. 6 Butler Community College. Now 50-7, the Lady Cougars will need three wins to defend the title starting with a noon matchup against the winner of the 10:00 a.m. Colby versus Dodge City Community College. Should the Lady Cougars come out victorious in the noon loser’s bracket final, Barton will return to the diamond for the 2:00 p.m. championship game needing to beat Butler twice to advance to next week’s District E Championship.
