A paint party for all ages, with instructor and supplies provided, will be open to the public Saturday April 23, 1 to 4 p.m., at Carriage Factory Art Gallery, 128 E. Sixth St. Sue Bechtel will lead participants in creating a 12 x 12 acrylic painting that will be ready to hang when they leave the gallery.
The class is part of the “Spring into the Arts Festival” activities hosted by member organizations of the Newton Area Arts Council during the month of April. Reservations for the class can be made by calling the gallery at 316-284-2749. The class fee is $25.00.
Carriage Factory Art Gallery is housed in a carriage factory founded in 1883. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.The gallery offers workshops in various art media throughout the year.
In addition to rotating exhibits that feature regional art for sale, the gallery includes a consignment sales gallery of 50 local artists, gift shop and a collection of paintings for sale by American impressionist Albert H. Krehbiel.
Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 12 to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
