A Cowboy’s Faith: Amazing, Certainly Not Humdrum

“Your God Is Too Boring”

It’s the title of the book we’re reading, but the thought never crossed our mind. Like saying “school is boring,” or “life is boring.” Not to us.

Yet, “amazing” He is. Again we were reminded, and appropriate to repeat how so.

Just think about hatching eggs: canary, 14 days; barnyard hen, 21 days; ducks, geese, 28 days; and parrot, ostrich, 42 days. They are all divisible by seven, the number of days in a week.

, like no other quadruped, so this huge animal can rise from the ground easily.

Horses rise from the ground on two front legs first, while cattle rise from the ground with two hind legs first.

Each watermelon has an even number of stripes on the rind. Every orange has an even number of segments.

All grains are found in even numbers on the stalks, while an ear of corn has an even number of rows, and each stem of wheat has an even number of grains.

Every bunch of bananas has on its lowest row an even number of bananas, and each row decreases by one, so that one row has an even number, and the next row an odd number.

The waves of the sea roll in on shore 26 to the minute in all kinds of weather.

Certain flowers blossom at certain specified times during the day. Great botanist Linnaeus said he could tell the time of day by which flowers were open and those that were closed.

How wise the Lord is in all His works of creation. He’s the only One who could have come up with things like this.

Only God, who made our brain and heart, can successfully guide them to a profitable end.

“Life without God is like an unsharpened pencil, it has no point,” we repeat.

Can’t help but think of driving the highway twice daily, to and from work, passing the barn with the painted message in big black letters: “No God No Peace, Know God Know Peace.”

Oddly, an accompanying barn-side reference: “John 3:16” is no longer there. Yet, we’re still reminded: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
